Drinking coffee in Hongkong

No tourist attractions on this trip. There several tourist places in Hongkong I should visit one day. But apart from the Peak I have visited none. With the trip and the cost of hotel and so on it is odd to take the opportunity to go a little further than the office buildings.

It is a town to do business. Hongkong is Cantonese but also a part English and overall it is a melting pot of the different people from the region and the West. Big companies have their headquarters here. The finance industry is big in Hongkong, it is the place between China and the rest of the world if you have to convert your Yuan or want to invest.

The coming years I will focus again on my foreign business. The transactions in Holland are finalized and I have to make a success of the business in Asia and the UK. I have to build a new organization and I am glad I can rely on my people who kept their responsibility in China and UK. Furthermore I have a lot of friends in the Asian region who are offering to help me. The new holding in Hongkong is grounded last August now we can enlarge the capital funding of our Mainland Chinese operating and bring the best of the operations together. I have planed to open a local Hongkong business this year. It will focus on Actuaries, Risk managers and Business Analyst. The new holding is going to be the umbrella for all the future activities in the region but first we must reactivate after more than one year of slowing down, crisis and uncertainty.

On Tuesday I opened the bank account at HSBC, the Hongkong Shanghai Banking Cooperation. HSBC is one of the biggest financial institutes in the world and although they had some support of the UK government they managed to become one of the winners of the financial crisis. Their Asian focus has paid off. Itís clear they have their roots in this area so for me they are a natural choice. I had no problem with the number of questions they had to ask as a part of the anti money laundry procedures. In my account number there is 4 times Ď8í so it will certainly bring me luck.

These days I had meetings with clients and potential clients. David came over from Bangkok and we could discuss the great future of Medical Tourism and the partnership we need for the operation. It was a pity Matthew and his girl friend were stuck on Puket, for them it could have been worse.

At Wednesday night I had to fly to Shanghai; there was a Typhoon warning and I had to wait in the plane for over two hours before leaving because Pudong Airport was closed. After a perfect flight I finally arrived at about 1.30 AM on the Airport of Shanghai and after a taxi trip of about one hour I could check in my hotel for a little sleep.
